Miss Universe Philippines 2024 Highlights
Read the highlights of the recently concluded Miss Universe Philippines 2024, where 53 women from all over the country and some communities abroad competed for the right to represent the Philippines in the Miss Universe stage, to be held later this year in Mexico.
The pageant culminated in the coronation of Chelsea Manalo of Bulacan as the new queen. A pageant dark horse, Manalo beat all odds to inherit the crown from Michelle Marquez Dee.
Meanwhile, four more crowns went to four other women — Miss Supranational Philippines, Miss Charm Philippines, Miss Eco International Philippines and Miss Cosmo Philippines.

Chelsea Manalo vows to win Philippines’ 5th Miss Universe crown

Miss Universe Philippines 2024 Chelsea Manalo reflected on how she came from being a “fallen star” to being the brightest one, vowing to conquer the international pageant stage for the country and those who put their faith in her.
“I once thought that a fallen star can never be reborn. For years it kept itself absorbed in the dark void, [but] it once again found its light. I was that star and last night I shone brightest because of all the love and support I received,” said Manalo on her Instagram page on Thursday, May 23, hours after winning the MUPH crown.

Michelle Dee pokes fun at own gaffe in crowning Chelsea Manalo

Even Michelle Dee could not help but poke fun at her “sabaw” moment as she was crowning Chelsea Anne Manalo of Bulacan as the new Miss Universe Philippines queen when she mindlessly plopped the crown on her successor’s head during coronation night.
“Sabaw,” or soup in Tagalog, is a colloquial term that refers to a person’s temporary lapse in judgment, or when a brain is not functioning well due to a mental meltdown.

Ahtisa Manalo’s Miss Cosmo Philippines 2024 title dismays pageant fans

Despite not winning Miss Universe Philippines 2024, Ahtisa Manalo’s campaign for a national title was nevertheless successful after she was named Miss Cosmo Philippines 2024. However, many pageant fans were disappointed with how her pageant comeback had turned out.
The Quezon Province native was the heavy favorite to win Miss Universe Philippines, considering her first runner-up finish at the Miss International 2018, and how she went against Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray at the national pageant. She eventually settled for a second runner-up and Miss Cosmo Philippines 2024 finish.

Alden Richards amuses viewers with forceful Miss Universe Philippines hosting

One of the highlights of the Miss Universe Philippines 2024 pageant was Alden Richards who amused netizens with his “angry” way of announcing the delegates who made it to the Top 20.
Richards, who was one of the hosts of the national tilt’s coronation night on Wednesday, had the role of announcing the winners of the elimination rounds, but his energetic, if not forceful delivery stole the show, much to the amusement — or chagrin— of viewers.

Marina Summers conquers MUPH stage with ‘Amafilipina’ performance

Marina Summers had a “dream come true”-moment after she represented the LGBTQIA+ community and brought drag to the Miss Universe Philippines stage.
Marina, one of the celebrity performers at the pageant’s coronation night on Wednesday, May 22, opened the event with a fiery performance of her song “Amafilipina.” The track is the drag queen’s anthem which is an adaptation of Maymay Entrata’s hit song “Amakabogera.”

Michelle Dee took her final walk as reigning Miss Universe Philippines (MUPH) queen on the early morning of Thursday in a sentimental note as she pondered her yearlong reign in her iconic black Mark Bumgarner evening gown inspired by the Filipino mambabatok, Apo Whang Od.
This was the same long-sleeved black evening gown that she wore when she made the Top 10 of the 72nd Miss Universe pageant held in El Salvador on November 18, 2023, featuring an indigenous tattoo art design that appeared to make a reference to the face of a viper, and a full skirt that showed a high slit.

The Philippines has found a new queen in Chelsea Anne Manalo of Bulacan, who was crowned Miss Universe Philippines 2024 during the grand coronation night on Wednesday, May 22, beating 52 other delegates and the first ever half-Black to win the title.
Dubbed “Bulacan Barbie,” the 24-year-old was born and raised in Meycauyan City to a Black American father and a Filipino mother, who divorced in 2000. After the divorce, her mother married a Filipino. She has been joining beauty pageants since high school and has also been modeling since she was 14 years old and has landed covers in magazines such as Mega.

Emmy-award winning presenter Jeannie Mai could not contain her excitement for her first trip to the Philippines, a recent video shared by the Miss Universe Philippines 2024 pageant online showed.

Miss Universe Philippines 2024 delegates now have 4 more crowns to fight for

Aside from the main title of Miss Universe Philippines, additional crowns have been added to the prizes that the candidates in this year’s edition of the national pageant may win. This came after organizer Empire Philippines announced that four more queens will be proclaimed after the ceremonies.
The additional titles are for the international franchises held under the brand of The Miss Philippines Culture and Heritage Celebration—Miss Supranational Philippines, Miss Charm Philippines, Miss Eco International Philippines and Miss Cosmo Philippines.

Ahtisa Manalo, Alexie Brooks top Miss Universe Philippines’ ‘Runway Challenge’

Ma. Ahtisa Manalo from Quezon Province and Alexie Mae Brooks from Iloilo City dominated all three preliminary challenges of the ongoing Miss Universe Philippines 2024 pageant, the latest of which was the “Runway Challenge.”
Aside from the “Runway Challenge,” both delegates were among the top vote-getters in “Swimsuit Challenge,” and “Up Close and Personal” interview challenge. The leading delegates in every voting category were solely based on the votes made on the Miss Universe Philippines mobile app.
