Jeannie Mai to host Miss Universe Philippines 2024 coronation
Emmy-winning host Jeannie Mai will be part of the stable of celebrities tapped to host the Miss Universe Philippines 2024 coronation night on May 22.
The organization announced that Mai will share hosting duties with 2022 Miss Universe R’Bonney Gabriel and actor Alden Richards, who will be return for the second year in a row.
Mai, who has been anchoring the global pageant for several years now, uttered the iconic line “yellow is the color of joy”.
“The well-loved Miss Universe host and TV personality will be one of the hosts of The Coronation of Miss Universe Philippines 2024 on May 22, 2024. [crown emoji] It’s going to be an unforgettable evening. See you there!” the national pageant organization said on social media.
This is not the first time that the national pageant had international personalities as hosts. Last year, 2019 Miss Universe Zozibini Tunzi was a special host.
Article continues after this advertisementIn 2022, a trio of Miss Universe winners handled the ceremonies — the Philippines’ Pia Wurtzbach from 2015, France’s Iris Mittenaere from 2016, and South Africa’s Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters from 2017.
For this year’s show, “Drag Race UK vs the World” season 2 finalist Marina Summers and pop band Lola Amour of “Raining in Manila” fame will perform.
Fifty-three delegates from around the country and overseas Filipino communities are competing this year to succeed reigning queen Michelle Marquez Dee. The winner will represent the Philippines in the 73rd Miss Universe pageant in Mexico later this year.
