Mesmerized audience filled the atmosphere at the Miss Universe Philippines 2024 Preliminaries Gala Night with cheers, as the candidates paraded their beauty at the evening wear and swimsuit competitions.
After the welcome greetings from event hosts actor Marco Gumabao and Miss Universe Philippines 2023 Michelle Dee, the 53 aspirants opened the show flaunting their curves donning cutout one-piece and two-piece swimwear in shades of purple, as seen on the delayed airing of the May 19 event via Empire Philippines’ YouTube channel on Tuesday, May 21.
During the segment, they also walked the pageant runway in the silver “MMD” heels by Filipino shoemaker Jojo Bragais.
The delegates afterwards marveled with their pasarela in shimmering long gowns, leaving the audience swooning over their charm.
Some of those who stood out that night were awardees Ahtisa Manalo of Quezon Province, who donned a silver asymmetrical sleeve high-slit gown; Bacoor City’s Victoria Velasquez Vincent in a strapless beaded gown with a chest wing-like detail; Iloilo City’s Alexie Mae Brooks in a two-piece beaded gown consisting of a long-sleeve backless top and a high-slit, floor-length skirt; Christi Lynn McGarry from Taguig City in a cyan cutout dress; and Cebu’s Kris Tiffany Janson from Cebu who served looks in an emerald green column gown.
Also part of the event’s roster of awardees were Tarah Valencia from Baguio City, Chelsea Manalo from Bulacan, and Dia Maté from Cavite.
Other crowd favorites who were warmly received by the audience were Hawaii’s Patricia Bianca Tapia, Leyte’s Angel Rose Campo Tambal, Pampanga’s Cyrille Payumo, Quezon City’s Cam Lagmay, Southern California’s Jet Hammond, and Sydney’s Jenina Anne Lui.
The preliminary swimsuit and evening gown competitions as well as the preliminary interview sessions will help determine the candidates who will advance to the next round.
The semifinalists—among these are the top performers and video challenge winners—will be unveiled at the coronation night set to be held at the Mall of Asia Arena on Wednesday, May 22.
