Ahtisa Manalo’s Miss Cosmo Philippines 2024 title dismays pageant fans
Stay tuned for more Miss Universe Philippines 2024 updates!
Despite not winning Miss Universe Philippines 2024, Ahtisa Manalo’s campaign for a national title was nevertheless successful after she was named Miss Cosmo Philippines 2024. However, many pageant fans were disappointed with how her pageant comeback had turned out.
The Quezon Province native was the heavy favorite to win Miss Universe Philippines, considering her first runner-up finish at the Miss International 2018, and how she went against Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray at the national pageant.
But destiny had other plans as Chelsea Manalo of Bulacan was picked as the eventual titleholder. On the other hand, Iloilo’s Alexie Brooks was chosen as Miss Eco International Philippines, Baguio’s Tarah Valencia as Miss Supranational Philippines, and Pampanga’s Cyrille Payumo as Miss Charm Philippines.
She eventually settled for a second runner-up and Miss Cosmo Philippines 2024 finish. This, however, didn’t sit well with some fans who expressed dismay on social media over the “downgrade” of Manalo’s title, knowing she was already a runner-up at a prestigious global tilt.
no crown for stacey considering she’s the 1st runner-up and the downgrade of ahtisa being the miss cosmo international 😧#MissUniversePhilippines2024 pic.twitter.com/V1vvF6JFYV

VVV is my bet…and super happy ako for Bulacan — dark horse, refreshing, and bongga ang pasarela and face card.
Pero for me, Ahtisa Manalo should decline the crown given to her simply because it is a downgrade.

Ahtisa needs to think this through. If she won’t accept this, she’ll left a bitter mark sa org at baka ‘di na siya makatungtong ng Miss Universe Philippines stage again. She needs to think ahead. Pero what a downgrade nga. #MissUniversePhilippines2024 https://t.co/KOn7EnbeZR

Others hoped Manalo would “resign” from her title as her title was a “waste” of her pageant comeback.
Noooooo 😭 Ahtisa please resign. Di sayo bagay ang Cosmo 😭 You didn’t comeback for this. 😭#MissUniversePhilippines2024 #Ahtisa #Resign pic.twitter.com/1xD5htEtHo

Meanwhile, some pushed for Manalo to return to the Miss Universe Philippines stage to claim the title.

One @DefenderDlsu said Manalo shouldn’t have returned to pageantry since she’s already a “household name” in the industry.

Manalo’s Miss Universe Philippines 2024 stint came after a five-year break from joining beauty pageants. She was supposed to join the 2020 edition of the global tilt but backed out as she didn’t “feel ready” at the time.
The Quezon Province representative bagged eight special awards before the coronation night, including Miss Smilee, Miss Fairy Skin, Miss Hello Glow, Miss Great Lengths iColor Plus, Miss Danielito’s Home Kitchen, Miss Queen of Hearts Sleepwear, Miss Aqua Boracay, and was among the three Miss Zonrox Color Safe awardees.
