‘Riverdale’ halts production due to team member who had contact with coronavirus patient

The production of CW Network teen drama “Riverdale” has been suspended after a team member was in contact with a person infected with COVID-19. The TV show is shot in Vancouver, Canada.

Warner Bros. Television said in a statement that it is exercising precautions for the health and safety of employees, cast and crew, according to the Vancouver Sun today, March 12.

“We have been made aware that a team member from ‘Riverdale,’ which is produced in Vancouver, was recently in contact with a person who has tested positive for COVID-19. The team member is currently receiving medical evaluation,” the statement said.

“We are working closely with the appropriate authorities and health agencies in Vancouver to identify and contact all individuals who may have come into direct contact with our team member.

“Out of an abundance of caution, production on ‘Riverdale’ is currently suspended.”

The unidentified team member is a cast member, as per an email from the president of labor union IATSE 891 to members who currently work or have worked on “Riverdale,” the Vancouver Sun reported.

Shooting is suspended for the rest of the week. The show was filming for its fourth season, particularly episode 20 out of 22, reported TVLine.
