Amid the coronavirus outbreak in the country, actress Heart Evangelista created her own improvised face protection using a bare mask she got from Japan, an extra mask with filter, and ribbons from designer labels such as Hermes and Chanel.

Evangelista walked her fans through the whole mask-making process on her Instagram Stories yesterday, March 11. The actress was with a couple of friends who all decided to bring out their sewing kits to create their own personalized face masks.

The TV host explained why they created the masks, and it’s because “life goes on and… there’s work.” Due to the nature of her job, Evangelista said that she has no choice but to be “fashionably safe.”

For her own mask, Evangelista sewed together the mask from Japan, which appears to be made out of cloth, and another mask with filter. She then added a ribbon from Hermes, which she said came from one of its paper bags.

The actress also showed the finished mask on her Twitter page yesterday.

“Dahil [walang] magawa sa Bahay need maging creative,” the actress said. “Kaya natin toh.”

(Because there’s nothing to do in the house, we need to be creative. We can get through this!)

Meanwhile, the Department of Health has previously explained that healthy individuals do not need to use face masks. The World Health Organization also advised that disposable masks should be the ones used. JB
