Amanda Seyfried revealed that she auditioned for the role of Glinda the Good in the film adaptation of “Wicked,” which she lost and went to American actress-singer Ariana Grande.

Seyfried recalled the said audition after she was asked what she considered the “wildest thing” she did to get a role, during an exclusive interview with Backstage last Tuesday, July 19.

“I have dreams that I’m still auditioning for ‘Wicked.’ Last summer while I was playing Elizabeth [on 2022 miniseries ‘The Dropout’], on the weekends I was auditioning in person to play Glinda in the movie version of ‘Wicked,'” the actress was quoted as saying. “Because I wanted it that much that I was like, ‘You know what? Yeah, I have to play the last scene of ‘The Dropout’ on Tuesday. I’ll give my Sunday to you.'”

Seyfried pointed out how she “bent over backwards” for the “Wicked” role, as she also played the “hardest role” in her life at the time.

“But I think it also taught me how far I’ve come as a singer, which I really wanted to prove. Because ever since [‘Les Misérables’] I was like, ‘I need to be better. I need to do better,'” she added, referring to the 2012 musical film she was part of. “So whatever comes next in terms of musicals, I’m finally prepared.”

Seyfried, who is popular for her roles in “Mamma Mia!” and “Mean Girls,” also looked back on how she was “terrified” of going through audition when she was just 15 because she “couldn’t act for sh*t.”

“[Auditions] are very scary, but I love it; I love the fight. I love waiting for my agent to call and tell me whether or not I got it,” she told the publication.

Meanwhile, Grande’s casting as Glinda was announced in November last year along with British actress Cynthia Erivo, who will portray Elphaba.  /ra
