Rachel Zegler will be having her Oscar moment after all. She has finally been invited as a presenter, after she was initially snubbed and not given an invitation to the ceremony — a matter that was not taken lightly by her fans.

Zegler is the star in Steven Spielberg’s remake of “West Side Story” which is a nominee for the best picture award.

After Zegler’s revelation that she was not invited, which led her fans to protest online, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences reached out to the actress and invited her to be a presenter at the ceremony, as per The Hollywood Reporter  yesterday, March 22.

The actress is in London for the shooting of Disney’s live-action remake of “Snow White” but her schedule is reportedly being adjusted to allow her to attend the event.

Zegler previously disclosed that she won’t be attending the event in response to a fan who expressed excitement of seeing the actress’ Oscars attire, as per Zegler’s Instagram page last Sunday, March 20.

“Can’t wait to see what you’ll be wearing on Oscar night,” one @cubsfan326 said, to which the actress replied “I’m not invited so sweatpants and my boyfriend’s flannel.”

Zegler then voiced her disappointment but wished for a “last minute miracle” to be able to “celebrate the film in person.”

“[I don’t know] y’all I have tried it all but it doesn’t seem to be happening. I will root for [West Side Story] from my couch and be proud of the work we so tirelessly did 3 years ago,” she stated. “Thanks for all the shock and outrage — I’m disappointed, too. But that’s okay.”

She also addressed the outrage from fans on her Twitter page on Monday, March 21, asking them to “respect the process” of the award-giving body.

“We live in such unprecedented times, and a lot of work behind the scenes goes into making movie magic happen. That goes for film productions (like the one I am so lucky to be currently shooting in London) and awards shows alike,” she said. “Let’s all just respect the process and I’ll get off my phone.”

Zegler, who is of Colombian descent, earlier won a Golden Globe for best actress in a musical or comedy for her performance in “West Side Story.”

The 2022 Oscars will be held on Sunday, March 27 (March 28 in the Philippines) at Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre. Anne Pasajol/JB
