Inspired by ‘because’ meme, Kris Aquino answers fan questions on showbiz comeback, politics

What becomes a trending meme is hard to predict. For instance, who would have thought that an interview between Kris Aquino and Kim Chiu, made all of seven years ago, would go viral in 2021?
In it, Chiu struggles to finish her sentences between tears as she talks about her fans. Aquino, wanting to move the conversation along, appears frustrated when she asks, “So na-touch ka (you were touched) because?” That single moment has since turned into a viral meme embraced by Twitter users, fandoms and even celebrities.

Riding on the random viral moment, the talk show queen has decided to answer fan questions that can only be responded to with a “because” statement.
“Because… alangan naman kayo lang ang nag-enjoy (you think you are the only ones who can enjoy this)?” Aquino wrote on Instagram yesterday, Feb. 7. “Ask me anything I can answer with because… cutest questions will get answered.”
Fans took the opportunity to ask her about her move to a beachfront residence, her love life, a showbiz comeback and a possible political career.
“You are always controversial because??” asked one @princezfionah.
“No mali ka (you are wrong) because I’m actually BORING,” Aquino stated.
“Why haven’t you chosen a network to work with yet?” wondered @wlmtrimedia.
“Because they haven’t chosen me. #truth,” Aquino said candidly.
“[Why won’t you] join politics?” was a question from @mr.mrs.sedej.
“Because hindi yan ina-announce, GULATAN dapat,” Aquino quipped. (Because that is not announced, it should be a surprise.)
Inevitably, there were questions of dating and exes. One @jhunnellezeng asked, “You have loved Bistek (Herbert Bautista) because?”
Aquino explained, “I still love him, nagbago lang. Because ang asawa pwedeng ma annul, ang boyfriend pwede kayong magbreak pero ang totoong kaibigan — for the rest of your life na.”
(I still love him, [the love] just evolved. Because you can get an annulment from a spouse, you can break up with a boyfriend, but a true friend — [that is] for the rest of your life.)
Kris Aquino impersonator Krissy Achino asked about why she was moving away from the city.
“Because [Bimb] is the size of an adult but underage for the vaccine… because he can continue 8th grade via online studies… because I won’t get my fit to work clearance unless my blood test results show an improvement,” reasoned Aquino.
One @sjcnaredo asked, “[Beachfront] because?”
“Because [iyon] ang ni recommend ng doctors ko (that’s what my doctors recommended),” Aquino said.
When another fan asked where she was going to stay, Aquino revealed that they will stay in the Visayas.
She previously said in her announcement to move that her eldest son Josh is staying in Tarlac and that she will make visits to him. JB
