Red Velvet’s Joy to resume activities after two-month hiatus
Joy of K-pop girl group Red Velvet will resume her activities starting on June 21 after taking a two-month hiatus due to health concerns.
SM Entertainment, Joy’s label, announced her return to the entertainment scene through an official statement to Korean media outlet MBC News on Tuesday, June 20.
“Joy, who was on a temporary hiatus from scheduled activities to recover her health and to get plenty of rest, will resume all her scheduled activities starting with the filming of ‘Animal Farm’ on June 21,” their statement read, according to a Soompi translation.
Since her hiatus, the K-pop idol has “improved a lot in the meantime” and decided to get back to work following “discussions with our agency and medical staff.”
The South Korean agency also thanked fans for giving Joy “lots of support and encouragement” during her break.

As a result, she was unable to be part of Red Velvet’s “R to V” shows in Japan, Philippines, Indonesia, Paris, Germany, Netherlands, Spain, and United Kingdom.
Born as Park Soo-young, Joy debuted as the lead rapper and sub vocalist of Red Velvet in August 2014. She also made her debut as a soloist in May 2021. EDV
