As Kris Aquino battles her multiplying autoimmune diseases, she also has to bear with another broken heart.
Six months after identifying her own physician Mike Padlan as her new boyfriend, Aquino recently admitted that they have broken up. On Sunday, she opened up about their split, saying the surgeon did not love her.
The Queen of All Media made the disclosure weeks after she admitted that she was feeling the effects of her autoimmune diseases, with three more adding to the list.
“I choose to share MY PAINFUL TRUTH, the doctor I loved left me because he wanted the freedom to travel, to break free from needing to care for [and] the reality of KRIS AQUINO who had multiplying autoimmune diseases [with] so few treatment options,” she began her statement posted on Instagram.
“Enough time has passed: he did not love me. In my defense he did receive the correct professional fees even when we were a couple. End of that chapter. Never akong natakot umamin ng katotohanan (I was never scared to reveal the truth),” she continued.

Looking back on their split, Aquino recalled Padlan’s words that spoke of his choice to leave her to gain his freedom back, baring even his supposed spat with her friends and other physicians who wanted to help her.
“The TRUTH, in his words ‘INIWAN KITA DAHIL MAHIRAP KANG MAHALIN,’ sobrang sikip ng paligid (I left you because you’re hard to love. I felt so constricted)’ — my prayer is that he will now STOP trash talking [and] cursing my best friends and doctors who are still doing all they can to improve my quality of life, proving everyday genuine love, compassion, [and] loyalty,” she said.
Health update
According to Aquino, her youngest son Bimb is doing mixed martial arts (MMA) training and has been helping her move around their house. Despite her condition, she is nonetheless determined to keep fighting for her recovery.
In her Instagram post, Aquino shared several pictures of her emaciated self being carried by her son Bimb to the toilet, her thin arms looped around his neck for safety.
“Bimb is now doing MMA training and I weigh less than 80 lbs, only 36 kilos. I cannot walk, each step is agony. The excruciating pain is from my knees all the way to my feet, a combination of deep bone pain (lupus arthritis, Polymyositis, and acute fibromyalgia),” she said.
“I decided to post my current reality because I want to give HOPE. When you are unconditionally loved, when like me you are blessed with a son who will do all to lessen his mama’s physical [and] emotional suffering — HINDI KA SUSUKO (you will not give up,” she further added.
The actress-host reiterated that she’s willing to endure the pain brought on by her autoimmune diseases, saying her faith in God and being loved by her children and support network is enough to keep going.
“TINITIIS ko yung matinding sakit na parte na ng bawat araw ko dahil ang pagmamahal ng anak ay walang katumbas (I endure the severe pain in my everyday because a child’s love has no holds barred),” she wrote.
“Life is difficult for all of us — but faith in God and REAL love proven by ACTION gives ALL the needed willpower to persevere. Thank you God, thank you TO ALL for your continued prayers for my healing, and to MY ‘northern star’ — Bimb for being much more than your mama deserves,” Aquino continued.
The general surgeon, who is said to be professionally based at the Makati Medical Center, has yet to respond to Aquino’s remarks, as of this writing.
Aquino and Padlan’s relationship made headlines after the Queen of All Media was spotted next to a mysterious man on the plane in September 2024. His identity was eventually revealed moments later.
