LISTEN: Lea Salonga covers Jose Mari Chan’s ‘Christmas in Our Hearts’ with Pentatonix

Christmas is still more than a month away, but Lea Salonga and the American a cappella group Pentatonix are already bringing in the holiday cheer with their collaboration for a cover of “Christmas in Our Hearts.”
Salonga and Pentatonix joined forces for their own rendition of Jose Mari Chan’s popular Christmas song, as part of the group’s “Holidays Around the World” album released on Pentatonix’s YouTube channel today, Oct. 28.
Pentatonix also teamed up with other international artists—including pop star Meghan Trainor, Chinese pianist Lang Lang, Congolese singer Grace Lokwa and Lebanese singer Hiba Tawaji—to bring holidays tunes from all over the globe.
“This album is unlike anything we’ve ever released before! Much like the album’s title, ‘HOLIDAYS AROUND THE WORLD,’ we wanted to invite a few incredible artists from all around the world to help celebrate the season with us,” Pentatonix stated on its Facebook page, also today. “These artists all sound amazing and we are so thrilled to have them on this record.”

Salonga had earlier told fans that she enjoyed making the song cover with Pentatonix as she showed the album’s track list on her Instagram and Twitter pages yesterday, Oct. 27.
“Yes, folks! This is happening! Had the most wonderful time recording this classic Filipino Christmas song with [Pentatonix]! And yes, fellow Pinoys, this is the Christmas In Our Hearts you think it is!” she said.

Salonga was recently named one of Time magazine’s TIME100 Impact Awardees for being a “life-long role model for children of color.” The singer currently appears in “Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin,” which is based on the 2010s American drama series “Pretty Little Liars.”
Meanwhile, Pentatonix is set to go on a US tour with their show “Pentatonix: A Christmas Spectacular” with the folk trio Girl Named Tom. /ra
