Pokwang has joined the birthday celebration of her ex-partner actor Lee O’Brian and stressed that she does not want to dwell on sadness despite their split, after she was told she had “wasted” tears on their breakup.
The comedienne and her older daughter Mae can be seen singing the birthday song for O’Brian as Malia, her child with O’Brian, smiles and watches on, as seen on Pokwang’s Instagram page yesterday, Sept. 29.
“Happy birthday Dada [Lee O’Brian]. Pero ikaw [Malia] ang bida, ayan na naman sya,” she joked. (Happy birthday Dada Lee O’Brian. But you Malia are the star, there she goes again.)
Given that Pokwang and O’Brian have been separated for months, one @baimeah questioned why they decided to go their separate ways if they are still “ok” around each other.
“Bakit [naghiwalay] pa? Tapos ok rin pala sila… sayang luha,” the netizen said. (Why break up? Then we will see that they are still okay… a waste of tears.)
“Dahil pwede naman matapos ang isang bagay sa buhay mo ng masaya ka ulit at ‘wag mabuhay sa dilim, yun yon! So ano [pala] gusto mo, iyak ako buong buhay ko?” Pokwang replied.
(Because one thing in your life can end, but you can become happy again and not remain in darkness, that is it. So what did you want, that I would cry my whole life?)
Pokwang confirmed her separation from O’Brian in July, stating it was a “peaceful” breakup and it had been months since they parted ways. She also clarified that their split was not caused by a third party or financial issues.
The comedian and O’Brian have since been co-parenting Malia. For Pokwang, the arrangement has made it easier for them to be parents for Malia. While this setup made them more “mature” as friends, she admitted she and O’Brian are both happy with just seeing each other every weekend.
Pokwang and O’Brian began dating in 2015, after meeting on the set of the 2014 film “Edsa Woolworth.” They then welcomed Malia in 2018. Mae is Pokwang’s daughter from a past relationship. /ra
