Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla showed solidarity with ABS-CBN colleagues affected by the shutdown with the theme song “Tinig ng mga Nawalan” released yesterday, Aug. 31.

The actors performed the song along with ABS-CBN employees who had been retrenched following the media giant’s shutdown, as seen in the music video which also featured supporters who relied on its services.

ABS-CBN said the “tribute video” is “for Filipinos who continue to fight, serve the nation, and care for others despite the challenges faced by the country.”

After Congress denied the media giant a franchise renewal in July, ABS-CBN had to scale down its operations and slash jobs effective Aug. 31.

Veteran journalists such as Ces Drilon and Korina Sanchez were not exempt from the “bloodbath.” Radio station MOR 101.9, ABS-CBN regional, ABS-CBN News’ current affairs arm and ABS-CBN Sports are among the groups that were axed, with the network limited in its capacity to operate.  /ra
