Luis Manzano clears up comment on Angel Locsin’s engagement

Luis Manzano defended his statement about ex-girlfriend Angel Locsin’s engagement to Neil Arce after facing criticism.
The TV host’s reaction to news of the engagement was captured in a video by entertainment reporter Melba Llanera. Manzano had said, “‘Wag n’yo na akong idamay sa kwento niya. Hindi kailangan ang opinyon ko diyan or pangalan ko diyan. Wala akong kinalaman sa kwento.”
(Do not get me involved in her story. My opinion or my name is not necessary. I do not have anything to do with the story.)
One Twitter user Micah (@buchay4) claimed on Thursday, July 11, that he had said “’Wag niya ko idamay sa kwento niya (She should not get me involved in her story).” The tweet has since been deleted, but others chimed in to say that it made Manzano seem bitter.
The “Minute to Win It” host cleared the air in a series of tweets, stating that he probably said “’Wag n’yo na (You should not),” and that he said it so fast that it could have been misheard.
“Ang kwento nila ay sa kanila, ang amin ay amin. Kaya ‘wag na kami idamay ng ibang fans or press sa love story ng ibang tao,” he said.
(Their story is theirs and ours is ours. That is why fans or the press should not get us involved in other people’s love story.)

Locsin and Arce, a film producer, got engaged last June. She and Manzano dated on an off, first in 2007 before breaking it off after two years. They dated again in 2014 and split in 2016.
Manzano celebrated his third anniversary with actress Jessy Mendiola on June 25. /ra
