Why Luis isn’t ready to ‘take the plunge’ just yet

While Luis Manzano said he was “certain” he would marry girlfriend Jessy Mendiola in the future, the TV host has admitted that he was pushing back the wedding date because he was still “saving up for their future.”

“I am sure about her. I’m not having doubts at all. It’s just that I want to provide for her and give her the life that I think she and my would-be family deserve,” Luis told the Inquirer during a recent visit to the set of the ABS-CBN reality talent search, “World of Dance.”

“To get married is easy, but maintaining a home isn’t. I keep saying, yes, our lives will be good and comfortable for X amount of years, but what if something untoward happens? I’m just being a realist,” said the 37-year-old TV host.

In a previous interview, Jessy said she hoped to become a mom before she reaches 30. Asked to react to this, Luis replied: “She’s 26. It’s better if she becomes a mom earlier than the deadline she has set for herself, but we both still have a lot of commitments, especially this 2019,” he explained. “My family has been wanting a baby. They keep saying I’m not getting any younger. My mom (Lipa City representative Vilma Santos) has been nagging me about it.”

Luis claimed that he wasn’t ready to take the plunge just yet because what he has saved was not enough … for now. “I am not saying I’m not well-compensated. Akala n’yo lang mayaman ako, but I want to point out that there’s a huge difference between the talent fees of the hottest leading man and a TV host,” he explained.

Luis further pointed out: “I have businesses. That’s why people have this notion that, ‘Wow! Luis owns yachts or something!’ So I need to focus on these businesses this year.”
