A new Japanese voice actress and idol revealed a secret skill that has been getting a lot of attention from netizens. She speaks fluent English, something many idols can’t do.

She goes by the name of Sally Amaki, a member of the up-and-coming anime idol group and TV show “22/7” (“Nanabun no Nijuni,” meaning “Twenty-two Sevenths”). Amaki was the eighth member to be selected among 10,325 applicants, reports SoraNews24.

Her introduction on the group’s Twitter account appeared generic as far as new idols go. She also offered thanks for being picked.

However, it was revealed on several live streams that she speaks very fluent English and even has a South Californian accent. But Amaki warns that she cannot speak English for long in order to maintain her image as an idol.

A humorous montage of Amaki replying to live stream viewers in English was uploaded by Twitter user @nise_shi. It has since accumulated 35,000 likes and 16,000 retweets.

She also appears to love food. Sadly, a lot of the American staples that she likes are absent in Japan.

But as far as anime fans go, Amaki lives the dream. She will be voicing the character Sakura Fujima.

Amaki was born and raised in Los Angeles. She later moved to Japan for an an undisclosed reason and applied to be a member of 22/7.

Idols are a big thing in the Japanese entertainment business. Groups such as AKB48 and their sister acts have gained a significant following in both the domestic and international scenes. Having a member who speaks English becomes a plus for a new group in terms of standing out and gaining attention from audiences beyond Japan. Alfred Bayle/JB
