Ronnie Liang joins relief efforts for Paeng victims

Ronnie Liang put his army reservist training to good use as he joined efforts in repacking relief goods for families affected by Severe Tropical Storm Paeng.
The “Ngiti” singer acknowledged that while his efforts are “small,” he believes help from various groups can make a “big difference” in the lives of the storm victims, as seen on his Instagram page last Wednesday, Nov. 2
“Today, I am not an artist, actor, or celebrity. I am just simply me, an Army Reservist,” Liang said. “Volunteering in case of calamities, like repacking relief goods for typhoon-stricken victims is what a reservist signed up for and what I love doing because it is fulfilling, and nothing can match that feeling; even [if] what I did is just something small.”
“To all typhoon victims, I will pray for you and I will repack for you. To my fellow reservists, kasama ninyo ako sa pagtulong, sa pagbuhat ng mga karton at sa pag-repack ng mga de lata at bigas,” he added. (…To my fellow reservists, I am with you in helping, lifting boxes, and repacking canned goods and rice.)

In another Instagram post, also last Wednesday, Liang noted that he and his fellow reservists aim to produce 25,000 food packs as part of the “initial requirement for Typhoon Paeng’s victims and for the augmentation to typhoon-hit regions.”

Liang was one of the finalists in the ABS-CBN talent competition “Pinoy Dream Academy.” Aside from “Ngiti,” he is also known for his songs “Akala Mo” and “Gusto Kita,” among others.
Liang joined the army as a reservist in 2018, and was promoted to first lieutenant in March. He is also a pilot who made his first solo flight in November 2019. /ra
