Karen Davila’s son with autism votes for first time: ‘What a milestone!’
Karen Davila is one proud mother to David, her son diagnosed with autism, after he exercised his right to vote for the first time.
The broadcaster narrated her 20-year-old son’s voting experience which she regards as a milestone for him, as per her Instagram page today, May 10.
“What a milestone!” she said. “A few weeks ago, David texted me and asked, ‘Mom, am I registered to vote?’ I was surprised that it mattered to him! Thank God, [DJ Sta. Ana] registered him and he got very excited.”
Davila also spoke about the process she and her husband Sta. Ana did to help David choose the candidates he will vote for.
“DJ and I went [through] sample ballots with David, explained to him what the candidates stood for and helped him with his list. Yesterday, he stood in line with his dad for 4 HOURS to VOTE,” she added.
Article continues after this advertisementDavila expressed joy for her son’s initiative and addressed parents of children with the same special needs. She stressed the importance of being involved to give their children “better lives.”
Article continues after this advertisement“As a mom of a special child, it makes me SO GRATEFUL and HAPPY that David is aware, concerned and very present in the moment!” the broadcaster added. “Kids in the Autism Spectrum can live better lives if parents intervene early! As a parent, this is the best gift we can give them!”

David was diagnosed with Pervasive Developmental Disorder, Not Otherwise Specified (PDD/NOS) in the Autism Spectrum, when he was three years old. He had also suffered and overcame two full-blown seizures in 2020 and 2021. JB
