Dingdong Dantes disclosed that he and his family tested positive for COVID-19 while recalling their experience and road to recovery from the virus.

Dantes narrated his family’s bout with the virus through a sit-down video, as seen on his Facebook page yesterday, Jan. 23. The actor, who’s in his last day of quarantine, recounted how they first experienced symptoms, days after they got their booster shot.

(We noticed that a lot of people around us are not feeling well — almost everyone we know has a positive case in their houses. Until everyone in our house had fever and already experienced symptoms as well. It got us thinking, “This must be it. We may already be part of the surge,” so we got tested, and we tested positive for COVID-19.)

Dantes told fans how his family is still grateful because they only experienced mild symptoms, stressing how their booster shots protected them from the virus. The actor then thanked those who helped and provided supplies for them.

(It was hard for us because we all got COVID-19 at the same time, our mobility was affected, movements were hard. I can say that we got through this through the help of many people.)

Aside from his family and friends, Dantes also expressed his gratitude to the Office of the Vice President who sent them a care kit. He noted how the kit was a big help for their family, and to those who are experiencing the same situation.

“Isa rin sa mga mahalagang natanggap namin ay ‘yung COVID care package ng Office of the Vice President, so napakalaking bagay ‘non dahil naglalaman ng kumpletong mga gamit na kinakailangan ng isang COVID-positive patient,” he said.

(One of the important things we received was the COVID care package from the Office of the Vice President, it was such a big help because it has the complete supplies needed by a COVID-positive patient.)

Dantes then stressed that contracting the virus is not something to be ashamed about, while reminding the public to get vaccinated and be protected against the virus.

(This is how the surge has been, it has infected and is still infecting many, but let’s remember that it is neither a sin, nor a shame to have COVID because no matter how careful we are, the danger of contracting the virus is still out there.)

(So I think, we should still work harder to ensure that we are vaccinated, as well as given booster shots, because aside from the added protection these give, vaccines also prevent us from experiencing severe symptoms if we happen to contract the virus.)
