LOOK: Lily Collins pokes fun at vandalized ‘Emily in Paris’ poster amid criticisms on show

Lily Collins is seemingly unbothered by her haters as she and her husband, director Charlie McDowell, poked fun at a vandalized poster of her Netflix show “Emily in Paris.”
Collins posed beside the show advertisement which shows a red-eye-and-nosed Emily Cooper, her character in the show, as seen on her Instagram page on Monday, Jan. 3.
“I can’t say I love the new look, Em,” the actress said. “But A for effort.”
McDowell, for his part, ran away from the poster after seeing the defaced character, as seen on a video also on the same page.

The series was recently criticized by Ukrainian culture minister Oleksandr Tkachenko for its depiction of Ukrainian women, which he described as “unacceptable” and “insulting,” as reported by BBC on Jan. 3. It is not the show’s first time to be criticized, as it was also widely called out for its stereotypical approach on Paris and French culture, particularly during its first season.
Collins portrays the role of Emily Cooper, an American girl who moved to Paris to pursue her dream job. The second season of “Emily in Paris” premiered last Dec. 22. Just 24 hours after the series aired, fashion sites have reported an increased interest on the clothing items featured in the comedy drama. JB
