Winwyn Marquez is working on her marksmanship skills—but wants her followers to know that having a gun is not so one can look “cool.”

Marquez, who has been training under the Philippine Naval Reserve Command, posted photos of her on Instagram learning how to handle a gun.

“Know the basic principles of gun safety by heart,” she wrote, and cited gun safety guidelines such as handlers being “strongly discouraged from playing or toying with firearms” and that “firearms are inherently dangerous and must always be stored carefully and handled with care.”

She stressed, “DON’T even think that owning or carrying a gun is ‘[nakakacool, astig ako (something to make me look cool, look tough)] if [I] have one’.”

“‘Wag stupid. [‘Wag] mag feeling action star. [Magtraining] muna (Don’t be stupid. Don’t pretend to be an action star. Train first).”

The beauty queen also posted a photo yesterday, Sept. 29, undergoing dry-fire training and reiterated the gun-safety guidelines.
