Regine Velasquez: In half of my career with GMA, I didn’t have a contract
Since she is now a certified Kapamilya, Regine Velasquez made a revelation during her 20-year stay with her previous network, GMA.
“Not a lot of people know that my 20 years (staying at) GMA, kalahati [noon], wala akong kontrata (half of it, I didn’t have a contract),” the Asia’s Songbird revealed in a “Tonight With Boy Abunda” interview aired Friday night.
Velasquez made the revelation after Boy Abunda asked her what comment she got after her much-talked-about transfer to ABS-CBN was the most hurtful. She answered: “walang utang na loob (being ungrateful).”
Even though she was called ungrateful despite being with GMA for that period, Velasquez said she stayed with the network “[b]ecause I wanted to be with them (GMA).”
While Abunda thought she felt insecure about it, he lauded her for striving hard with her talent and with “passion and a lot of love.”
