WATCH: ‘Pacific Rim Uprising’ features new Jaegers, giant monsters
Giant robots and their pilots are called into service once again in the upcoming “Pacific Rim Uprising”.
A new collection of giant robots called Jaegers, with a new generation of pilots are featured in this new trailer. They are led by Jake Pentecos, estranged son of the first movie’s Stacker Pentecost and played by John Boyega of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”, reports Entertainment Weekly.
“Jake is the prodigal son,” Boyega said in the interview. “He is a young guy who was on the cusp of greatness in his early days when he was training to be a Jaeger pilot, but he always had a troubled relationship with Stacker. I’m the son he didn’t really talk about in the first film … the product of Stacker’s first love.”
Rinko Kikuchi will also be returning to reprise her role as Mako.
Jake will pilot a new Jaeger called the Gypsy Avenger along with his old friend Lambert, who will be played by Scott Eastwood. The Avenger bears a strong resemblance to the first movie’s Gypsy Danger. It also appears to have some similar weapons plus a few upgrades.

The other Jaegers featured in the trailer include Saber Athena (orange), Guardian Bravo (red), and the Titan Redeemer.
