The “Tomb Raider” reboot finally premiered its first trailer on social media. It showed off Lara Croft in her younger years before all the adventures she had in early video games.

Academy Award-winning actress Alicia Vikander (“The Danish Girl”) takes on the role of the young Lara Croft as she sets off into her first adventure. Inspired by the 2013 “Tomb Raider” game reboot, moviegoers can expect a different Lara Croft from the dual-pistol wielding woman that Angelina Jolie first portrayed in 2001.

FEATURED STORIES

Vikander’s Lara Croft will be inexperienced, often wounded, and generally expected to be dirty all throughout the movie. Fortunately, the actress’ experience as a nimble dancer (she was a ballerina) came in handy in performing various stunts.

Lara begins her trip into the unknown after discovering clues left behind by her late father. These clues, which includes a video, urged her to visit a mysterious island, learn its secrets, stop an evil organization, and possibly save the world. No pressure.

The trailer caps off with something of a sequel teaser. It showed Lara in a gun shop, looking more confident as she purchased a pair of her signature handguns while wearing either her familiar ponytail or braids.
