Eigenmann ‘dynasty of villains’ sparks online craze with viral TikTok video

The Eigenmann family is living up to its legacy of being a family of villains as they hopped on a TikTok trend to reference the family members’ reputation for delivering some of the most iconic “kontrabida” performances in Philippine film and television.
On Instagram, Michael de Mesa shared a video that featured him and his family members Rosemarie Gil, Sid Lucero, Ryan, Geoff, Gabby and Max Eigenmann doing the trend, which has gathered 1.4 million views as of this writing.
In the clip, the Eigenmanns were first captured talking and laughing, as the text “The chances of being unalived by an Eigenmann are low” appeared. The video then shifted to the stars giving their deadly stare as the text continued with, “but never zero.”

The statement is a play on the popular meme format: “The chances of [something unlikely] happening are low, but never zero.” It’s often used to exaggerate a small but real possibility of something happening.
In this context, the idea of being harmed by an Eigenmann, though unlikely, is never completely impossible as the dynasty is known for their iconic, intense portrayals of villains, which sometimes involve unaliving people on screen.
In the comments section, fans and celebrities pointed out how the family is a home of convincing kontrabidas.

“Scaryyyy!!! Pero in real life, ang babait,” wrote seasoned actress Ruby Ruiz.
“When God made the Eigenmanns He said – here’s your official source of convincing contrabidas,” pitched in one fan.

The Eigenmanns recently reunited to celebrate the 86th birthday of their patriarch, actor Eddie Mesa, dubbed “Elvis Presley of the Philippines.”
Andi Eigenmann, who recently made headlines after publicizing her lovers’ spat with fiancé Philmar Alipayo, was absent at the gathering. But she posted the video of the event on her Instagram Story, writing in her caption, “See you soon Eigenfam.”
