Ruffa Gutierrez asks for prayers as sister-in-law Alexa battles leukemia
Ruffa Gutierrez expressed her love for her sister-in-law Alexa, wife of her younger brother Elvis, who was diagnosed with leukemia or cancer of the blood.
On her Instagram account last Saturday, Jan. 13, Ruffa sought prayers for Alexa’s recovery, while describing her as a “brave and beautiful soul” and a “devoted wife” to her brother.
Ruffa’s post was also accompanied by a video documenting her favorite moments with her sister-in-law, including their recent family trip to Japan and Alexa kissing Annabelle Rama on the cheek.
“Leukemia warrior. [Alexa Gutierrez] is a brave and beautiful soul, a devoted wife to Elvis, and a loving mother to Aria and Ezra, her two young daughters. In the face of this unforeseen adversity, she needs our prayers and support. Let’s storm the heavens and pray for Alexa’s complete healing,” she wrote.

Continue to be in high spirits. You’re not alone.”
The “Can’t Buy Me Love” star also shared that Alexa is being treated at the St. Luke’s Medical Center Global City in Taguig, although she didn’t disclose how and when the latter was diagnosed with the disease.
Ruffa’s post earned the support of her brother Raymond and fellow celebrities Bubbles Paraiso, Sunshine Cruz, and Ana Roces, as seen in the comments.
Alexa tied the knot with Elvis in June 2015. They have two children together named Aria and Ezra.
According to US-based health platform WebMD, leukemia is a type of cancer caused by the significant rise of white blood cells, which “crowd out the red blood cells and platelets” in the body.
