David Licauco has shared his realizations after watching “Rewind,” the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry of Star Cinema starring Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera.

On his X (formerly Twitter) account, Licauco said one lesson he learned from the movie was to not be too attached with worldly things that other blessings are taken for granted.

“A lesson from Rewind: we’re only humans, and we get so caught up with the worldly things that we forget we’re blessed enough to live and be alive. Live with gratitude and tell the people you love that you love them,” he wrote.

Licauco’s post came after the MMFF extended the festival’s run until January 14, and “Rewind” became the most talked-about movie on social media.

“Rewind” is a romantic tearjerker family movie, making almost everyone in the household relate to the story. Aside from the real-life couple’s onscreen chemistry and acting abilities, it was the lessons of the movie that made the viewers continue to commend the film.

Despite not being able to secure any awards during the “Gabi ng Parangal,” netizens and local celebrities have been taking the time to share their thoughts on “Rewind.”

On January 9, the Metro Manila Development Authority which oversees the MMFF announced the festival’s extension, after its gross earnings reached a record high of P1.069 billion, and it is projected to earn around 1.2 billion on the last day of the extension.

The festival’s committee is also preparing for the inaugural Manila International Film Festival (MIFF), which will screen the 10 2023 MMFF entries in Los Angeles, California, from January 29 to February 2, and is set to have a separate awards night with seven outstanding Filipino-American Hollywood creatives on the jury.

MMDA also announced that they will not be holding the Summer Metro Manila Film Festival this year to make way for its 50th anniversary, with Manila as the city host, and to also support the Film Development Council of the Philippines  (FDCP)’s “Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino.”

“Rewind” is the comeback movie of DongYan after 13 years, and it tells the story of husband and wife John and Mary, whose marriage became a struggle, until a tragedy happened that trapped the characters in a time loop, making them realize the true meaning of life and love.

Aside from “Rewind,” the other official entries for the 2023 MMFF include “Broken Hearts Trip,” (Christian Bables) “Becky and Badette,” (Eugene Domingo and Pokwang) “When I Met You in Tokyo,” (Vilma Santos and Christopher de Leon) “Family of Two,” (Sharon Cuneta and Alden Richards) “Mallari,” (Piolo Pascual) “GomBurZa,” (Cedrick Juan) “Penduko,” (Matteo Guidicelli) and “Firefly.” (Alessandra De Rossi).
