Former “Eat Bulaga!” host Jimmy Santos is back in the Philippines after making a living by recycling drinking cans and bottles in Calgary, Canada.
In the latest episode of his vlog, Santos provided a glimpse into a day in his life in the Philippines, where he does his household chores and gym activities, revealing that he’s now back in the country.
“Nandito na po ako sa Pinas. Marami ho ang nagtatanong akala nandoon na ako sa Canada. Hindi ho pinasyalan ko lang ho ‘yung apo ko para sa kaniyang first communion. At the same time, nakapag-vlog na rin ako doon, nangalakal ako, maganda naman. Maganda naman ang sistema kapag nangangalakal kayo, malinis at talagang disiplinado mga tao doon,” he said.
(I’m already here in the Philippines. Many people are asking, thinking I’m already in Canada, I’m not. I just visited my grandchild for his first Communion. At the same time, I got to vlog there, I did recycling business, it was great. The system is good in the recycling business, it’s clean and the people there are really disciplined.)
In a comment on his Facebook page, Santos clarified that he is permanently residing in the Philippines.
“Binibisita ko lang anak at apo ko doon, dito ako sa Pilipinas naglalagi talaga,” he wrote. (I only visit my child and my grandchild there, I actually stay here in the Philippines.)

In 2023, the veteran comedian shared his experience of recycling materials in Calgary, where “every can or bottle is worth a certain value” as Canadian residents are required to recycle them.
Santos returned to the Philippines in October 2023 and made a surprise visit to “Eat Bulaga,” where he reunited with the mainstay hosts.
Prior to that, Santos’s last appearance on “Eat Bulaga” was in 2021 for the Christmas special episode of the noontime show’s then-“Bawal Judgmental” segment before he left the show for good.
