The Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2023 will extend the theatrical run of its 10 film entries for one more week until Jan. 14, according to its overall organizer, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

On its Facebook page on Sunday, Jan. 7, MMDA Chair Don Artes the annual film festival was extended following “numerous calls and requests on social media.”

“We at the MMFF would like to express our deepest gratitude to all who have supported us and watched the movie entries, particularly those who requested for the MMFF movies to extend beyond [their] original run,” Artes said in a statement.

“Marami pong salamat sa inyong patuloy na pagtangkilik. Moviegoers, may mga karagdagang araw pa para panoorin lahat ng MMFF entries (Thank you very much for your continued support. Moviegoers, you still have more days to watch all MMFF entries),” Artes said. “Truly, MMFF 2023 is a certified box office hit. This is a good sign as we gear up for the Manila International Film Festival (MIFF).”

Proceeds from the annual film festival will be given to the Movie Workers Welfare Foundation, Film Academy of the Philippines, Motion Picture Anti-Film Piracy Council, Optical Media Board, Film Development Council of the Philippines, and other beneficiaries in the film industry, per MMDA.

MMDA’s announcement comes hours after it was confirmed that MMFF 2023 reached P1 billion in combined box office sales on Jan. 7.

The film entries are set to be released at the upcoming MIFF in Los Angeles, California from Jan. 29 to Feb. 2.
