Markus Paterson addressed the backlash he received over his “never date someone in the industry” remark and stated that while he stands by this, he and actress ex-girlfriend Janella Salvador are on good terms.

Paterson spoke about this in the third episode of his “Boys After Dark” segment along with fellow celebrities Anthony Jennings, Jae Miranda, Gello Marquez and Aljon Mendoza, as seen on Rise Artists Studio’s YouTube channel yesterday, Sept. 17.

“If I could go back in time and change what I said, honestly I would not. I stand by what I said because what I said comes from my past, my truth and that’s my honest opinion about my future potential relationships,” he said. “Secondly, ‘wag kayo mag-assume (please do not assume). Let’s not jump to conclusions or anything because you kinda are.”

“Thirdly, I respect Janella to the utmost of my ability — the woman that she has become, the mother that she has become. I will love her forever. She has given me the best gift of my life,” he added, referring to their son Jude.

Paterson, who was discussing his “WTF moments and deepest regrets in life” with his fellow actors, then revealed having regrets over leaving the United Kingdom and moving here to the Philippines.

“It’s weird saying this because ‘yung buhay ko dito sa Pilipinas, sobrang blessed ako with my work, with my job and with my family but ‘yung biggest regret ko talaga is making the decision to move here,” he stated. “Everything happened so fast, so quick tapos do’n ko na-pick up lahat ng bisyo ko, ‘yung depression ko.”

Paterson also confessed that if he did not have his son, the actor would have probably returned to the U.K. and “be happy.” Despite this, Paterson vowed that Salvador would always have “a huge part of his heart” as she is the mother of his son.

“But of course, at the end of the day, I just want to bring it back to the fact that me and Janella are good, we’re friends,” he continued. “We are co-parenting because obviously our priority is Jude. She’s an amazing mother and I’m trying to be an amazing father.”

“Jude is for sure my biggest blessing and the fact that she’s the one that gave it to me, I will never not love her. Maybe not romantically anymore but she will always be a huge part of my heart,” he added.

Paterson recently confirmed that he and Salvador have broken up “almost a year ago,” adding that they are happy on their own now. Salvador, for her part, earlier revealed that she is now a single mom to Jude. JB
