EXO member Xiumin confirmed to star in first K-drama in 7 years

Xiumin of the South Korean-Chinese boy group EXO has been cast for a role in a new series, his first Korean drama role in seven years.

The K-pop idol will be appearing as the lead actor in the new drama titled “Sajangdol Mart” (romanized title), as per JTBC News via Soompi yesterday, Sept. 14. This was also confirmed by the agency SM Entertainment.

“Xiumin, who reached his 10th debut anniversary this year, will be starring as the main role in the new drama ‘[Sajangdol] Mart,'” a drama official told ALLKPOP, also yesterday.

“Sajangdol Mart” follows various stories of past idol group members who come together to run a supermarket. The series will be helmed by producing director Lee Yoo Yeon, who also directed the 2019 South Korean series “Best Mistake.”

A premiere date for “Sajangdol Mart” is yet to be announced as of this writing.

Xiumin made his K-drama debut through “Falling for Challenge” in 2015. He then starred in the film “Seondal: The Man Who Sells the River” in 2016.

Xiumin is also gearing up for the release of his first solo album, “Brand New,” which will be out on Sept. 26.  /ra
