Ben&Ben drops new song on closure ‘The Ones We Once Loved’

Ben&Ben has returned with a new emotional song “The Ones We Once Loved,” a track about closure and words that are left unsaid in a past relationship.
The folk pop band announced the release of “The Ones We Once Loved” on its Twitter page today, Aug. 26. The track is written by Ben&Ben’s lead vocalist Paolo Guico, while it is produced by Johnoy Danao and Jean-Paul Verona.
“‘The Ones We Once Loved.’ New Ben&Ben Song out now,” the band stated while showing the official cover art for the song.

Ben&Ben released the official lyric video of the song on its YouTube channel, also today. It is also available on Spotify, Apple Music and various other streaming platforms.
“But I apologize / For coming into your life / Just to break your heart to pieces / And then leave you in the night ,” the band sings.
Guico opened up on the inspiration behind “The Ones We Once Loved” on his own Instagram page yesterday, Aug. 25.
“[A] few years ago, I was in a long-term relationship which you’ve known much about, [because] we shared a bit of our journey with you. And then, it ended. The time that passed since then has been an incredible journey of self-discovery, healing and growth for both of us, individually,” he said. “Eventually, peace, acceptance, respect for the past, and closure came. It wasn’t easy, and there were many emotions that went into that process.”
“Those emotions are in the song you are about to hear. So, my prayer is that if you are going through your own process right now, or there are unspoken feelings or thoughts you may still have, may this song help you through them. May you have the closure you search for, and the happiness you deserve,” he added.

Ben&Ben first teased “The Ones We Once Loved” by leaving cryptic quotes on its social media accounts and a billboard last week.
This comes after the nine-piece music act released the songs “Paninindigan Kita” and “Langyang Pag-Ibig” last June. It also recently collaborated with Indonesian singer-songwriter Pamungkas for the English version of “Paninindigan Kita.”
Meanwhile, Ben&Ben is set to hold a send-off concert to be held at CCP Open Grounds on Sept. 3, ahead of their first North American tour. /ra
