Ruffa Gutierrez to daughter Lorin as she turns 18: ‘Huwag muna mag-boyfriend’
Ruffa Gutierrez gave her firstborn daughter, Lorin Bektas, pieces of advice as the latter turned 18 years old, including not accepting any suitors yet.
Gutierrez shared several words of wisdom to Lorin as she prepares her for adulthood in a heartfelt open letter via Instagram yesterday, Aug. 3.
“To my firstborn, @loringabriella [heart emoji] Today, you turn 18 years old. These are exciting times for you: just graduated high school, going to college, starting your career with @vivaartistsagency, the opportunities coming your way are endless,” the doting mother said.
“Don’t be in such a hurry to grow up. Savour your youth. Yes, you’re officially an adult, but that definition means being responsible with all aspects of your life,” Gutierrez added.

The letter came with several photos of the stunning Lorin, who just graduated from high school last June.
“Be a leader, not a follower. Chase your dreams, travel the world, pursue your goal of taking up law, be a good girl — HUWAG MUNA MAG BOYFRIEND (do not get a boyfriend yet),” Gutierrez stressed.
By giving that piece of advice, Gutierrez admitted that she now sounds like her mom, Annabelle Rama.
“And if you decide to have one 10 years from now, CHOOSE WISELY. Be with someone who respects you and is GOD FEARING,” she stressed. “Don’t just follow your heart Lorin, use your brain.”
She also advised Lorin to “be kind” and to choose her platform “to be an inspiration to others.”
“Your family, [Venice Bektas] and I will always be here for you throughout every facet of your life. We love you so much!!” the mother said.
On her 17th birthday last year, Lorin received the same piece of advice of not getting a boyfriend yet from her mother.
Lorin is Gutierrez’s eldest child with former husband Yilmaz Bektas and is the older sister of 16-year-old Venice. Lorin officially entered show biz last May by signing with Viva Artists Agency.
Gutierrez has been a single parent following her split with Bektas in 2007, but the two parents have discussed the possibility of co-parenting. /ra
