Jerrold Tarog, who has been attached to a film adaptation of superhero Darna, confirmed that he will not be involved in the TV show of the same character.

Responding to a Twitter user’s query, the “Goyo” director said yesterday, Jan. 13: “Unfortunately, I’m not going to be involved in the TV series due to scheduling conflicts. But some doors remain open regarding my future involvement in the Ravelo universe.”

“We will see. For now, I wish ABS-CBN & @Imjanedeleon all the best. Let’s continue to support them.”

Another Twitter user asked if a movie was still in the works, to which Tarog said, “Sana (Hopefully). That’s up to the studio.”

ABS-CBN said in a statement last August that the movie was going to be postponed indefinitely because of COVID-19 restrictions.

The “Darna” series was announced last December, with Jane De Leon still set to play the titular role.

The film adaptation of “Darna” has faced multiple delays over the years. Director Erik Matti left the project in 2018, while actress Liza Soberano backed out of the role in 2019 due to a finger injury.  /ra
