Janella Salvador on Filipinos habitually commenting on weight: ‘Worst body shamers’
Janella Salvador expressed her dislike for some Filipinos’ tendency to comment on someone’s weight, especially during the holiday season.
“Filipinos are the worst body shamers,” the actress said on her Twitter page last Saturday, Dec. 26.
“Let me enjoy my Christmas pudding in peace. Happy holidays to you too!” she added alongside a laughing emoji.

Though Salvador did not specify what prompted her post, she is no stranger to body-shaming comments from people online.

One noted that Salvador seemed to thrive in England since she looked “malusog (healthy)” there. Meanwhile, another also stated that the cold weather makes one want to eat more.
A day after Salvador’s post on some Filipinos’ habit to comment on someone’s weight, her fellow actress Jennylyn Mercado called for a stop to it.
Along with it being a rude gesture, Mercado stressed that pointing out one’s figure may trigger those who suffer from eating disorders.
“It should stop,” she said in a series of tweets. “Physical appearance has nothing to do with the quality of the person.” /ra
