It is no secret that Agot Isidro is among the most vocal celebrities when it comes to issues on rights, and she is now commending fellow artists and countrymen for speaking out following the rally calling for ABS-CBN’s franchise renewal.

The media giant’s workers, supporters and stars such as Jericho Rosales, Coco Martin and Angel Aquino attended the protest held around the network’s compound yesterday, Feb. 21. They came together to make a stand against the perceived attack on press freedom, and called for the protection of around 11,000 people from losing their jobs.

Isidro welcomed her new allies and lauded their action via Twitter today, Feb. 22, saying she appreciates any resistance to attacks on people’s rights.

“Whatever the reason for being up in arms, it stems from personal experience,” the actress noted. “Some fighting for themselves. Some fighting for a cause for many. Either way, in a climate where our rights are strangled, any resistance is appreciated.”

“Sa mga bagong kasama (To our new allies), Welcome to the fold,” she added.

Martin led the cast of the television series “Ang Probinsyano” who attended yesterday’s  rally, including actors Jaime Fabrigas, Joel Torre, John Prats, Rowell Santiago and Empoy Marquez, among others.

Before the rally, stars from both ABS-CBN and GMA 7 had been raising their voices through social media against Solicitor General Jose Calida’s quo warranto petition. He is seeking the revocation of the Kapamilya network’s franchise on grounds of “highly abusive practices” and violation of the terms of its franchise.

On Feb. 20, the actress took a swipe at the said petition, tweeting: “02-20-2020 Daming 2 2day. Dami din mga 0202. Naniniwala sa quo warran2 laban sa 2. (There are a lot of 2s 2day. There are also a lot of 0202 (fools) who believe in the quo warran2 against [channel] 2.)”

Isidro, a staunch critic of the administration, recently called out Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa for admitting being biased toward President Duterte when asked about whether he would vote for or against ABS-CBN’s franchise renewal. She also previously urged her fellow celebrities to speak out about other social issues as well.  /ra
