Amid the joy of welcoming another baby girl, Mariel Rodriguez looked back on a dark time in her life when she had to deal with two miscarriages in one year.
The TV host posted on Instagram last night, Dec. 3 pictures of her looking pensive. She said she had never posted them before; they were taken in August 2015 when she was “devastated” after a second miscarriage. At that time, her husband Robin Padilla whisked her away on a vacation.
“Robin took me to Europe to mourn and heal. It was at this trip wherein i said I don’t mind if it will just be Robin and I that i was content with just US. Little did I know God had bigger plans for us,” she reflected.
Rodriguez experienced her first miscarriage in March 2015. The second happened in August of the same year, the loss made more difficult by the fact that she could have had twins or triplets.
It was not long before she finally became a mom — she and Padilla welcomed their first child together, Maria Isabella, in 2016. Last month, they had a second child, Maria Gabriela.
During her pregnancy with Isabella, Rodriguez took blood thinners; the action star said it must have been why the pregnancy was successful, according to a Philippine Daily Inquirer report in 2016.
He said, “You see, I didn’t allow her to take those shots for her first two pregnancies. That was probably why she experienced miscarriages. I blame myself. I just thought it’s not organic. I finally agreed because this is what makes her happy.” JB
