Boy Abunda’s mom passes away at 90

MANILA, Philippines — The Mother of television host Boy Abunda, Licerna Romerica Abunda, has passed away at the age of 90.

News of her passing was announced Monday by the TV personality’s sister and Eastern Samar Rep. Maria Fe Abunda via a Facebook post.

Licerna, who is fondly called “Nanay Lesing,” died Sunday, according to the congresswoman. The reason of her death was not disclosed, as of this posting.

Maria Fe said the public viewing would start Monday midnight until Wednesday at the Arlington Memorial Chapels in Quezon City.

In October, Boy confirmed in his show “The Bottomline” that his mother, who had dementia, had already been in the hospital for weeks.
