Will the Kathryn-Alden tandem be a hit? Boy Abunda feels excited about it

Boy Abunda is positive that the unlikely tandem of Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards is something that moviegoers will look forward to seeing.
The King of Talk expressed his excitement on the duo’s upcoming movie in a “Tonight with Boy Abunda” episode, a clip of which was uploaded on Youtube last Thursday, March 21.
Abunda answered the questions of one viewer, Alejo Ompong Torres. “Wala na ba ang KathNiel? (Is KathnNiel over?)” the viewer asked about Bernardo’s love team stint with Daniel Padilla.
The viewer also wondered about Richards’ own love team with Maine Mendoza, further asking Abunda, “Saka di kaya ma-bash ng Alden-Maine fans si Kath? (Won’t Kath be bashed by Alden-Maine fans?)”
“I’m excited bilang isang taga-hanga (as a fan),” Abunda said. “We have to bring back people to the cinema, it’s a different experience. Kaya (So) how do we do that? We come up with new combinations (of love teams).”
Abunda assured the viewer that KathNiel is still going strong, adding that he saw a pictorial of the two together on Instagram.
On whether Bernardo will be subjected to bashings from Richards and Mendoza’s fans, Abunda simply said, “Bashers will always be there.”
He added that he understands why fans would react in such a way, saying that he was a Guy and Pip fan himself. The host was referring to the legendary love team of Nora Aunor and Tirso Cruz III in their youth.
“Hindi ko maunawaan bakit kailangan i-partner si Ate Guy sa ibang mga leading men (I could not understand why she had to be paired with other leading men),” Abunda explained. “Eventually, I understood.”
It was earlier this month when Bernardo and Richards surprised everyone with the news of their upcoming movie, which will be directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina. Meanwhile, Bernardo also revealed that she and Padilla agreed not to do joint projects this year.
