Kapamilya star Coco Martin broke his silence recently following murmurings that his name is not allowed to be mentioned on GMA 7. Martin recently worked with Vic Sotto and Maine Mendoza for Metro Manila Film Festival entry “Jak Em Popoy: The PulisCredibles,” which stars the three as police officers on a mission to stop and fight crime.
It was observed that GMA 7 did not mention Martin’s name in its official Twitter account while promoting the movie. Many fans of Martin took notice of the omission of their idol’s name, with some perceiving it as a spite thrown Martin’s way.
The issue did not escape talent manager and columnist Lolit Solis, who commented over Martin’s alleged “ban” in GMA on her social media last Dec. 10 by giving the network the benefit of the doubt.
As per Solis, it would be impossible for the network not to give Martin the opportunity, as Martin started his showbiz career in GMA after all.
Martin, meanwhile, replied to Solis’ post and put an end to the speculations and hearsay by saying that it is okay and that he understands.
Martin attested to the goodness of the people in GMA and that he sees no problem; the whole issue, to him at least, is a non-issue. He also shared that he is happy just by having been given the chance to work with Sotto and Mendoza, which was a dream of his.
“[Wala] pong problema sakin yon at kahit kailan hindi ako mag tatampo sa kanila,” he said.
The movie is Martin and Mendoza’s first project together and the “Ang Probinsyano” star only had praises for the actress who he called spunky and smart during the movie’s recent media conference.
“Wala siyang kaarte-arte… even when she has to perform difficult stunts. You don’t even have to instruct her that much, because she already knows her angles,” Martin said. “She listens to suggestions and has great comic timing.”
Martin also expressed his willingness last September to guest in “Eat Bulaga,” saying then that in the show, everyone treats each other as family. “Sabi nga nila sa ‘Eat Bulaga’ eh talagang pamilya. Ganun sila magtrabaho.” /ra
