Henry Cavill the spitting image of Geralt in ‘The Witcher’
Henry Cavill gave “The Witcher” fans a sneak peek at how he’ll look as the monster-hunting expert Geralt of Rivia.
A short clip of Cavill walking out of the darkness dressed as Geralt was uploaded by Netflix in an Oct. 31 tweet. The Superman star would then stop in front of the camera to give viewers a good look.

And it was a good look indeed for Cavill, who appeared to be the real-life incarnation of a clean-shaven Geralt.
American producer and screenwriter Lauren Schmidt Hissrich will head the television adaptation of Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski’s fantasy novel series. She will also be the show’s executive producer and showrunner, as reported by Variety.
While details about the show’s storyline remain scarce, an Oct. 20 Facebook post on the show’s page revealed the character Ciri, short for Cirilla, may appear in the show and could be played by actress Freya Allan. Ciri is the adopted daughter of Geralt and also trained in the monster-hunting ways of Witchers.
The first installment of “The Witcher” novel series was released in 1993 and was titled “The Last Wish.” Since then, seven more books were published, which in turn inspired graphic novels, board games and the critically acclaimed “The Witcher” video game series by CD Projekt Red.
A Witcher is generally a monster slayer for hire who has undergone extensive training and mysterious rituals in preparation for encountering various fantastical monsters and entities.
Since Cavill essentially nailed the look of Geralt, the next thing for fans to expect is whether or not he’ll also have the same rough and gruff voice. /ra
