Momoland thanks Filipino fans for helping group top charts
South Korean girl group Momoland flew to the Philippines and sat down with journalists and Filipino fans last Aug. 17 for a press conference, as promotion for their latest release.
Famous locally for “Bboom Bboom” and their latest track “Baam”, Momoland still finds it “unreal” to be able to top charts in a foreign country.
“It’s kind of unreal that we are topping the charts but now that I am here and I am seeing how the fans dance to our music, that’s making me see how our popularity is growing here and I’m really thankful for that,” Momoland member Jane said in an interview. “[I am] very thankful that the Filipino fans love K-pop in general.”
The group’s songs and choreography have become such a hit in the country that it has spawned countless dance covers on Facebook, each with their own unique charm.
In fact, the group has captured the Filipino’s hearts so much that according to a report by Facebook, 53 percent of the 618,000 followers of Momoland’s official Facebook page are based in the Philippines.

On some days, the Merries (short for Merry-G0-Round, Momoland’s fandom name) get to see the fun and hard work behind our music in real-time, and seeing them get as excited as we are is really something that’s important to us,” shared Nancy, one of the most famous members in the Philippines. “To finally be here in person in Manila to meet some of our fans is really a thrilling experience.” JB
