The clamor for another Sharon-Gabby movie grew strong back in February when Megastar Sharon Cuneta and ex-husband Gabby Concepcion reunited for a McDo commercial that upended social media. Diehard fans wished for the love team to get together once more for a movie; some even hoped that the two would finally be on good terms, and even Cuneta herself shared updates on her Instagram of a possible movie with Concepcion.
Back in March, however, Cuneta shared to her disheartened fans that another movie with Concepcion won’t be happening anytime soon. She apologized to her fans, and hard as it was to accept, Cuneta said that there may never be another Sharon-Gabby movie ever again.
But it seems the stars are on Cuneta’s side, for although her movie with Concepcion was scrapped, Cuneta shared on her Instagram yesterday, May 23, that she will be having a new movie.
“In Star Cinema now, being presented my brand new movie!!!’ Cuneta gushed. “Yippee!!! So very happy!!! Thank You, Jesus!!!”
The big news was a treat to her loyal followers and fans, as they rejoiced in Cuneta’s revelation. It’s true many have missed seeing Cuneta in the big screen, and some even couldn’t help but reminisce about their own experience when anticipating a Cuneta movie.
“Can’t wait Sharon, funny story to share with you when I was still in the Philippines I would wait for months for your movies to finish filming so on the 1st day it’s showing I was there on the actual very 1st showing!” shared one Michelle delos Santos (@michelleleadelossantos). “I even had to get up for the national anthem playing and I have my sandwiches and sprite as baon because I would watch it twice. I miss doing that Sharon.”
“The last movie queen standing!” said another fan, Jason (@jasonbradyleong). “So proud of you Mega, consistent na lead role yan kaya undisputed movie queen talaga si Sharon.”
Apart from her latest movie, Cuneta will be having a concert on June 1 at the SMX Convention Center in Bacolod City. It looks as if she’ll be taking a trip down memory lane, too, as she has no other than Basil Valdez as her special guest, as well as Martin Nievera.
Most would say Cuneta is definitely back, but it seems she’s never left her fans’ hearts in the first place. JB
