LOOK: Lea Salonga shares ’90s throwback photos with Aga Muhlach
Singer and actress Lea Salonga was in a reminiscent mood as she posted throwback pictures of her and debonair actor Aga Muhlach from her 26th birthday back in 1997. Salonga took to Instagram to share the said photographs yesterday, much to her fans’ delight.
“Dear @agamuhlach317, hindi tayo nagkita, kaya hanggang dito na lang muna. #OldScreenshots #1997 #Leas26thBday.”
Salonga may be pertaining to her recent trip back home to Manila last week where she only stayed for a short while. The Broadway actress has since been back to New York for her commitments with “Once On This Island”, an Ahrens and Flaherty musical where she is one of the stars.
Salonga and Muhlach as a love team have worked together first in 1992, for the movie “Bakit Labis Kitang Mahal”, then for “Sana Maulit Muli” in 1995.
Their fans found themselves gushing over the gesture. It can be remembered that last year, a love letter penned by Muhlach to Salonga made the rounds on Twitter, where he called Salonga his “the one that got away.” The love letter was written for Lea Salonga’s souvenir book “Playlist Souvenir Book: A Celebration of Lea Salonga’s 35 years” published back in 2013.

It was a lifetime ago, I was a young man on fire with passion, as all young men of a certain age are,” wrote Muhlach then. “I wooed fair ladies and dreamed of shaping the world. And, to me, Lea was Sandy — ethereal, aloof, unattainable; my very heart’s desire.

Salonga and Muhlach have maintained their friendship ever since, with Salonga posting a picture of Muhlach in his motorbike gear last week on her Instagram. She wrote, “This was too good (and the subject of the photo just too handsome) to not share @agamuhlach317.”
Back in December 2017, Muhlach and his family went to New York City, where they met up with Salonga and her own family to enjoy the sights, sounds and eats of Times Square.
“Yup, this happened,” wrote Salonga then as she posted a selfie of her and Muhlach. “Thanks for visiting the island, @agamuhlach317!” JB
