Iya Villania documented herself undergoing an unmedicated birth with her baby No. 5, Anya Love, saying they welcomed the child in a way that “felt right” for her.
The celebrity mom narrated her birth story while showing videos from before and the actual childbirth through her Instagram page on Tuesday, Feb. 18.
Villania recalled how she rushed to the hospital last Feb. 2 thinking that she would already give birth, but was informed that she only experienced false labor.
“I guess no mom can ever be a pro in pregnancy,” she said.
On the early morning of Feb. 11, Villania had contractions but she did not immediately go to the hospital as it might be another false alarm. The TV host said she even thought of going to the gym to “get [her] mind off of it,” but that her husband Drew Arellano suggested that she consult her doctor.
After her doctor informed her that she might already be effacing and dilating, Villania opted to just walk on the treadmill, then eventually headed to the hospital.
“[I was] instructed by my doctor to still walk around since head was still a little high. I was walking and praying the jitters away when all of a sudden my water broke! I ran to the toilet with the urge to poop when the nurse told me to stand up and head to the bed where I found myself kneeling, breathing my way thru each contraction,” she recounted.
Villania disclosed in the video that she went for an unmedicated birth, which was already her second time. The birth of her fourth baby, Astro, was the first.
“With everything happening so fast, I found myself birthing Anya in the most natural way that felt right to me,” she continued. “Enveloped with a spirit of courage and peace, God was with me the whole way, washing away every ounce of doubt and fear that I had in me weeks and days leading up to my delivery.”
“It was like God orchestrated the home birth I’ve always dreamt about within the safety of a hospital setting,” she added. “I prayed for a fast and easy delivery, but God can truly do more than you can ever think, ask for or imagine.”
Villania also expressed her appreciation for Arellano who recorded the birthing process while “dealing with his own fears.”
