Michelle Yeoh’s presence in the new “Star Trek: Discovery” TV series was cut short when her character died in the second episode.
However, it was revealed on a New York Comic Con panel that her character captain Philippa Georgiou will return to the show.
“I’m not going to let them kill me, okay?” said Yeoh to the attending audience.
It was in fact Yeoh herself who raised the question of captain Georgiou’s continued appearance in the show.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the actress had disguised herself and mingled with the crowd for an impromptu appearance. During the panel, she asked, “Is Captain Georgiou coming back?” Before anyone could answer, she surprised her fellow cast members and show creators by revealing her identity.
While it was not mentioned how the deceased captain would return, the events of episode four should give a hint on how Yeoh will continue to appear in the show.
Yeoh also gave some word of advice to co-star Jason Isaacs who plays Captain Gabriel Lorca: “The most amazing journey has been with Sonequa, so I’m telling you, Captain Lorca, if you don’t look after my baby girl, I will come and kick your ass. And you know I can do that.”
She was referring to Sonequa Martin-Green and the character she portrayed, Michael Burnham, who happens to be very close to captain Georgiou.
Whether as a ghost, a memory, or the character being alive and well, fans should be rest assured that Michelle Yeoh has more parts to play in the latest addition to the “Star Trek” franchise. Alfred Bayle/JB
