Have you been wondering who was the enigmatic lass “wearing cherry chapstick” in Katy Perry’s hit “I Kissed a Girl”? It’s Miley Cyrus.
In an interview with KTU‘s Cubby and Carolina Show on Wednesday, Cyrus recalled her near one-decade friendship with the pop icon, which sprouted when Cyrus was still a budding figure on the Disney Channel.
“Katy Perry, she’s been a friend of mine for a really long time,” Cyrus said. “We were actually just realizing the other day that next year, we’ll have been friends for 10 years. I think that’s my friend that I’ve known the longest, which is really, really weird.”
And again, Cyrus, 24, shocked everyone with one revelation about her friendship with Perry, 32. “When she came out with ‘I Kissed a Girl,’ I was doing the ‘Hannah Montana’ movie, and I heard her on the radio, they said, ‘Who’d you write that about?’ And she said me,” Cyrus recalled.
“And I was on a four-wheeler. We had a radio attached to the four-wheeler. I heard it and started screaming and freaking out,” Cyrus recalled in jest.

She just thought it was cool that I got to go with Katy Perry,” Cyrus said.
In a move that flickered controversy, Perry shared a steamy smooch—a real one—with Cyrus during the latter’s “Bangerz” tour in 2014.
Both pop stars dropped their newest singles this month. Cyrus dropped her song “Malibu,” an ode to her fiancé Liam Hemsworth, while Perry released her cherry-pie themed single “Bon Appetit.” Gianna Francesca Catolico /ra
