From cherry chapstick to cherry pie.
Taking her obsession with cherries to the next level, Katy Perry baked the world’s “best cherry pie” in New York City’s Times Square.
Her piquant antic comes following the release of her newest single, “Bon Appetit,” on Thursday. Rolling on the city with a food truck bearing the name “World’s Best Cherry Pie,” Perry began baking cherry pies and distributing slices of them to several people.
The pop star chronicled her promotional gig on Instagram and other social media pages. “No, seriously. This song is about cherry pie,” Perry wrote alongside a candid shot of her baking a pie.

“Cherries to me mean a little sexy which is kind of interesting because when I started, I had a song called ‘I Kissed a Girl’ and in the line it says, ‘The taste of your cherry chapstick,’ so I guess we’ve gone from cherry chapstick to cherry pie,” Perry said in an interview with Buzzfeed Tasty.
When asked why she chose cherry pies as a theme for “Bon Appetit,” Perry replied, “I think the cherry pie in pop culture has been so many different things. It’s been perverted, and it’s been made into something sweet.”
Perry, 31, is no stranger when it comes to endorsing her newly dropped singles with a “twist.” Upon dropping “Chained to the Rhythm,” Perry set up miniature disco balls playing the song in Tokyo, London, Chicago, Stockholm and Sydney. Gianna Francesca Catolico /ra
