Buboy Villar has refuted the allegation that he physically abused his former girlfriend Angillyn Gorens, saying he “doesn’t see himself” hurting another woman because his mother had gone through domestic violence.
Villar addressed the allegation in an interview on “24 Oras,” on Thursday, March 27, as he opened up about his parents’ situation.
“Dumaan sa buhay ko po na ‘yung tatay ko din ay nananakit sa aking nanay. Alam ko po na mali ang manakit ng babae. Mahal na mahal ko ‘yung nanay ko kaya kahit kelan [ay] ‘di ko maiisipan na saktan siya. Malabo po,” he said.
(I went through a time in my life when my father also hurt my mother. I know it’s wrong to hurt a woman. I love my mother so much that I would never think of hurting her. It’s impossible.)
On top of the physical abuse allegation, the actor-comedian also clarified that he and Gorens have reached an agreement at the Violence against Women and Their Children (VAWC) desk about his child support for their two children.
“Napag-usapan na po kasi namin ‘yan dati pa sa VAWC. Napag-usapan namin ito nang legal at approved ito ng VAWC […] Nakapag-meeting ako sa mommy niya, sa daddy niya. Sinabi ko talaga kung ano ‘yung parang kaya ko as a father, so naisarado naman po namin nang maayos ‘yon kaya ‘yung mga ganitong pangyayari, kung iisipin kong mabuti po, nakakalungkot,” he explained.
(We had already discussed it at the VAWC. We had discussed it legally and it was approved by the VAWC […] I had a meeting with her mommy, her daddy. I really said what I thought I could do as a father, so we were able to close it properly, so these kinds of incidents, if I think about it carefully, it’s sad.)
Villar noted that he “respects” his ex-partner and that he will choose to keep his version of the story to himself, adding that he had already talked to Gorens’ parents about the allegations.
On Tuesday, Gorens accused the actor of physical abuse and infidelity, which supposedly led to their split. She also alleged that Villar hasn’t provided financial support for their kids for two years now.
The non-showbiz personality’s claims were accompanied by photos of her bruises and several screenshots of text exchanges with Villar.
After one year of dating, Villar and Gorens got engaged in 2016. The actor confirmed their separation in 2020.
As of writing, Gorens has yet to comment on the actor’s denial.
